Welcome to the page that’s all about us, Chris and Katie Richards. We wanted you to come to this page so you might see us as more then a forehead behind a camera. We are a husband and wife team, well, wife and husband team, who love what we do, and are good at what we love.

We also are firm believers in making the most out of life. And when life happens you need to capture it. In a bottle, on film, in cryogenic containment, however you can! We happen to specialize in the “film” method of capturing life. But coming in the spring of 2019 cryogenics here we come. Anyway that’s where our way cool name comes from. Life Happens Studios is all about capturing what you want to remember, Life. Raw, unscripted, candid, just like Survivor without the rats. So whether you need to remember your wedding day, family portraits, or just need an excuse to get dressed up and get your picture taken, that’s what we can do.

Ok, now to the people behind the cameras.

How they met.
This is Katie now, I thought it best if I tell you all how we met.
We met in high school. Chris was a senior when I was a freshman and we had a drama class together. Chris was also student body president, and I always thought he was a cute guy. (He doesn’t really remember me though).

Fast forward 5 years. August 2, 2002, we have a mutual friend who put together a group date to go ice skating. I was the third wheel with her and her date, and Chris was the third wheel with his best friend and girlfriend. We laughed, talked and pushed each other down for the rest of the night. 3 months later, November 7, 2002 we were married!
Their Kids.
Jocelyn Grace and Cecily Faith. Our beautiful girls. The only thing they have in common is their blue eyes, but they couldn’t be better friends. They bring us such great joy everyday, hearing their giggles and receiving hugs and kisses… nothing is better than being a parent.

Into the Wedding Biz we go!
June 2004, we decided to make a life changing decision. We wanted to start our own company doing videography. Chris has always amazed me with his talent of seeing life from a different angle, and I loved weddings, having been a bride myself. With all our family and friends support we made the jump, and haven’t looked back since. We’ve met some awesome people along the way (people who you should ask us about by the way), and we’ve learned A LOT! About who we are, who we are as a company, and how we want to please our clients.

Why Photography?
It’s in the blood. Chris’ dad was an avid photographer and all of Chris’ life has been captured on film. Despite all odds Chris loves the camera and what better way to show your love for something than by making money with it. We love going to a photo shoot with a couple and watch them as they awkwardly get to know the camera, and then after 10 minuets they are laughing, and smiling and pretty much posing themselves. All we have to do is adjust all the settings, make sure the lighting is right, that’s there’s no hair in the face, bra straps showing or double chins. Oh! And remember to click the button.
Our goal is to make you so comfortable during the shoot, when you look back at the photos in a couple years you will still remember the good laughs, and kisses that you shared with your honey-pie.

What’s in the future?
We don’t know, but when life does happen, we’ll be there to capture everything.
